St Helens Schools laptops are encrypted using a system called Microsoft BitLocker. Encryption prevents data from falling into the wrong hands should a laptop be lost.
As a security measure, laptops are locked if an attempt to bypass the disk encryption is detected. If when starting your laptop you're presented with a screen warning you BitLocker is in recovery mode, you'll need to take action to get access to the laptop again.
If you would like to speak to someone about your laptop, please call St Helens Schools ICT Support on 01744 676525. Alternatively, you can unlock it yourself by going to http://keyrecovery.sthelens.org.uk/SelfService (you will need to be in school to do this)
