Family Learning in St. Helens

There are lots of courses available for parents, grandparents and carers across the Borough. Organised by the Council’s Family Learning teams, the wide selection of courses help parents to support their children with their schoolwork. There are many courses for parents and carers: 'Help your Child with Maths', 'Help your child Read', 'The ups and downs of parenting'.

There are a few places left on our free computer courses at Chain Lane and Chester Lane Community Centres and at Parr Library: ring those centres for details. Most courses are during the day but if you are interested in an evening course please let us know. We can sometimes arrange future courses to suit. Courses available in 2003/04.

The courses, some of which offer free creche facilities, generally last for two hours each week and run for seven weeks. Some lead to an Open College certificate and in the last academic year 500 of these were handed out to local people.

For more information contact the Family Learning team at the Rivington Centre, St Helens on 01744 455464 or the Parents’ Information Centre, Newton-le-Willows on 01744 677888.
